5 Hidden Gems of Karnataka

Karnataka is a state located in the southern part of India. Sitting on top of the Deccan plateau, the state is home to some of the most mesmerizing places in the country. From the mountains of the Western Ghats in the west to the bustling cities and highlands in the east, it has everything for a good trip you have in mind.

While there are famous places that people know about and visit usually, Karnataka has places with unparalleled beauty that very few know about. Even the inhabitants of the state themselves have little idea about the existence of these places, but they are sights that you should not miss in your lifetime, especially if you stay in Karnataka.

Forest Shrines

The forest Shrines of Gerusoppa is a sight to behold. Located in the heart of the Malnad region, it is just 30KM away from the famous Jog Falls, a spot that attracts thousands of tourists every year. It is a Jain temple complex that has intricate pillars in the vast expanse of greenery. It looks like as if you have landed straight in the sets of a movie set in the Amazon.

To reach their though you need to walk a little. You need to get through the forest on foot and just make sure you don’t hold your breath. But if you are not a fan of walking, you can also take a boat all the way to the shrine.

Floating Chapel

The Floating Chapel of Shettihalli is a spot that you must see. Located in the town of Shettihalli in southern Karnataka, it is on the banks of the river Hemavathi. What you see there is mesmerizing. A gothic style chapel standing in knee deep water, it looks mesmerizingly beautiful. It was built by the French way back in the 19th century.

Pithrody Beach

Pithrodi Beach is a beach located near Udupi in South Karnataka. The scene is something to behold. It is a beach right along the road and the road is sandwiched between it and a river that flows by it. The river itself flows to form islands that you stand out in the landscape. It is a mix of tropical delight and scenery from a place like Netherlands and is simply gorgeous.


Agumbe is the crown jewel of the Western Ghats. Located in the heart of the mountain ranges, it is a hauntingly beautiful place that is a must see for nature lovers. The beauty is not in the place itself by=ut what it holds. It is home to some of the most beautiful waterfalls and hills in the country.

 A particular place to visit would be the Kundadri Hill, a mountain which has a Jain temple built on top of it. It gives a near 365 degree view of Agumbe and its surrounding and is unlike any other place you would have ever seen.
