VIDEO : Whale Shark Caught In Pakistan
Immediately after fishermen found out an enormous whale shark unconscious offshore 10 times in the past, the 40-foot-long, seven-ton fish was lastly pulled from the water in Karachi on Tuesday, CBS News reports. No less than five cranes have been used to carry the enormous carcass, as a crowd of curious onlookers stood by. The shark was afterwards sold for its meat for 1.7 million rupees, the equivalent of $18,000.
Whale shark hunting is banned in many countries in Southeast Asia, and yet the large fish continues to get extremely popular. Traffic International recently placed Pakistan as 12th among the shark exporting countries in the world.
