Erie Insurance wins third consecutive honor from J.D. Power
Erie-based Erie Insurance ranks as the 14th largest auto insurer in the nation.
But for that third yr in a row, the company has boasted a diverse ranking — No. 1 in J.D. Power and Associates’ annual ranking of customer satisfaction.
Employees standing within the company’s lobby and looking down from the upper three floors with the atrium applauded Wednesday morning as Jeremy Bowler, senior director at J.D. Power, presented the award to Terry Cavanaugh, chief executive of Erie Insurance.
Bowler said Erie’s win in 2009 was a close one, with the company edging out its closest competition according to the results of thousands of shopping surveys.
“This yr, you distanced yourselves from the pack,” he stated. “You not only won, you won convincingly.”
Noting that the award was according to price, satisfaction with all the policy and the sales expertise, Bowler mentioned Erie agents sold twice as numerous policies as its competitors during a set quantity of visits.
Cavanaugh invited staff, hundreds of whom gathered for the presentation, to savor the second, but not for too long.
“While we celebrate, I would offer that employees from other companies are in meetings, talking about ways to improve,” he said.
But Cavanaugh was also savoring the second, lifting the award over his head and referring to subsequent year.
