House Democratic Leaders Reject Bipartisan Agreement on Unemployment Insurance

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement after House Democrats rejected a bipartisan Senate agreement on legislation to extend unemployment insurance in a fiscally-responsible way:

“It is disappointing that House Democratic Leaders, rather than work with House and Senate Republicans and their Democratic colleagues in the Senate to make sure that Americans looking for a new job continue to get unemployment benefits, chose to take their ball and go home.  The bipartisan agreement extended unemployment insurance in a fiscally-responsible way, yet Speaker Pelosi and House Democratic leaders rejected it outright.

“The American people deserve better.  They continue to ask, ‘where are the jobs?’ as Washington Democrats push their job-killing agenda, or just skip town entirely.”
