Rondo Hatton Biography and Picture
Rondo Hatton (April 22, 1894 โ February 2, 1946) was an American actor known for his brutish features. He appeared in films like “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and “The Brute Man.”
Rondo Hatton developed acromegaly in his 30s, meaning his features grew in a distorted way. Although he was said to be the most handsome boy in his class in his youth, his looks changed dramatically. His face and head changed such that he looked disfigured, but the disease turned out to be a blessing in disguise: He became a perfect candidate to play bad guy roles in early B-movies.
Hatton became known for playing bit roles in Hollywood films like The Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Ox-Bow Incident, though he was usually uncredited. He also appeared in a half dozen early Sherlock Holmes films, in which he played the Hoxton Creeper. He died of a heart attack caused by his acremegaly in 1946.
