Sean Goldman Coming Home
Call it a Christmas miracle. But the Supreme Court in Brazil ruled that David Goldman must be reunited with his 9-year old son Sean Goldman in New Jersey by 9 a.m. on Christmas Eve.
This puts an end to the international custody battle that began five years ago when, according to David Goldman, Sean’s Brazilian mother took him to Brazil on the grounds he would be returning a few weeks later. That never happened. Instead she kept him in Brazil, divorced David and remarried. Then she died during childbirth last year leaving Sean with his Brazilian family who have finally given up the legal fight to keep him.
“There comes a time when you have to say the war is over,” said Sergio Tostes, the lawyer for the Brazilian step family. “We could appeal but that would only prolong the suffering. We don’t want to prolong this anymore.”
This is a seemingly welcome change of tune, because just a few days ago, Sean’s grandmother wrote a letter to the President of Brazil saying, “I am threatened of losing my grandchild Sean because of an international lobby that does not take in consideration the interest of a child of 9 years that wishes to stay among those who comfort him when he lost his mother.”
But now they’re going to help Sean and David reunite proper, giving David tips and helpful info on Sean’s likes and dislikes. Kidnapping being one of the latter, presumably.

Eu penso que no Brasil existe muita corrupção, muito tráfico de influência nos três poderes, eles não respeitam as leis, são os poderosos que mandam, quem tem dinheiro não vai para a cadeia, os crimes ficam impunes. A a história de David and Sean, eu confesso que fiquei chocada, impressionada como David foi tratado pelo judiciária e pela família brasileira, não tiveram compaixão de um pai que podia notar pelo semblante de um homem lindo, mas que vivia sofrendo, desesperado todos estes anostentando visitar o filho, obter a guarda do mesmo, principalmente após o falecimento da mãe que num ato de insanidade sequestrou o Sean e pediu a separação aos gritos por telefone, tal mãe, tal filha, a avó materna agiu da mesma forma. Que bom que o menino foi tirado deste país e está vivendo com o pai que me parece que o ama muito e tudo fara para que este triste capítulo de suas vidas ficam para trás. Embora que eu acredite que a família brasileira não os deixaram em paz.
