Petra as international city

Lies in distribution line between Europe and Middle East, the Nabateans had managed their homeland as an unique international city. If the beginning Petra was founded as protection, lately this city was overwhelmed by millions of people for trade.

In 106 C, Rome conquered Petra. The trading in Petra stripe were weaker. When Rome authorize Petra by 100C, the architectures of Petra was influenced by Rome architecture.

And in about 700 C, the hydraulic system and some prominent monument of Petra was destroyed, Petra then just like disappearing and only legend remains.

In 1812, Johann Burckhardt of Switzerland got into the lost city. Thus the legends of Petra had shown up again to the modern world, and memorized as the symbol of technique and defense.

  3. Oh, I’ve always wanted to visit Petra. I’m afraid timing wasn’t good when I visited Israel two years ago, but I will get there someday!
